Taking The First Steps

Starting therapy can be a daunting thought for many of us, but finding out a little more about what you can expect will help you take the first step.

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, goal-focused approach that looks at how our thoughts, feelings, and actions affect each other. Sometimes unhelpful patterns can keep us feeling stuck. In CBT, we work together to notice these patterns and find new, healthier ways of thinking and responding

What can I expect at my first session?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a safe and relaxed space. We’ll talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you’d like to get out of it. There’s no pressure—you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.

I’ll explain how counselling works, answer any questions you have, and together we’ll think about what kind of support might be most helpful for you. Many people say they feel a sense of relief after simply taking that first step and having someone listen.

What are your fees?

My fee is £70 per session

How many sessions will I need?

This really depends on the issues you are bringing. Many people can see improvement in as few as six sessions; however, I will always talk this through with you so that they can decide what's best for you.
